The mood of the meeting was very supportive and a spirit of cooperation was evident between all three speakers. Senator Bartlett made a public committment that he would try to look at the possibility of a motion being moved in the Senate in the last two weeks of Parliament calling for a judicial inquiry into SIEVX and the people smuggling disruption program in Indonesia and he will be talking with his non-government Senate colleagues about this before Parliament sits again on 2 December. Senator Moore expressed general support for the seriousness of the issue. Senator Faulkner's role was commended universally at the meeting. So the message that came through from the meeting is - Keep up the pressure on John Howard on SIEVX! Write, fax or phone the non-government senators asking for their support for a judicial inquiry into SIEVX and the PSDP.
