People smuggling trial hears of shooting threatMonday, 23 May 2005. 16:02 (AEST)ABC A Brisbane court has heard alleged people smuggler Khaleed Daoed threatened to shoot those on board the ill-fated SIEV-X boat if they tried to disembark before the boat left Indonesia in 2001. Former Iranian refugee Hadar Queiasand told the Supreme Court he heard Daoed make the threats when a smaller vessel transporting people from the shore to the SIEV-X turned back without unloading. Daoed has pleaded not guilty to two counts of aiding in a people smuggling operation. The SIEV-X capsized off Indonesia in October 2001, killing more than 350 people.
