Australian connections to SIEVX passengers

[Persons in bold were residing in or had previously resided in Australia at the time of the sinking and had family on SIEVX]

Mohammad Hashim Al Ghazzi - wife Raghed Jabbar Al Saadi and three children, Mohammad (age 4), Ali (age 5), Reyam (age 10) all drowned. Brother-in-law, Diya Al Saadi, sister-in-law, Raged Al Saadi, nephew, Ali Alsadi (age 3, son of Diya and Raged), baby (gender unknown, only a few months old, child of Diya and Raged) and Ali Alsadi (orphaned nephew of Diya and Raged travelling in their care) all drowned. Ghazi Alghizzy - wife Fatima Jabbar Alidawi and four children, Mohammed (age 10), Hussein (age 7), Zahraa (age 8) and Alyaa (age 4) all drowned. (Sources: 1, 2)

Ali Mehdi Sobie - wife Zaynab, 31, and three daughters Donya, 14, Marva, 12, and Hajaran, 10 all drowned. (source: 1, 2, 3, 4)

Hazam Al Rowaimi - wife Akhlas, mother Hamda and four children, Noor (age 11), Fatama (age 8), Nargis (age 5), and Mohammed (age 3) all drowned. (source)

Haidar al-Zoohairi - wife Sameeya, daughter Hadeel (age 19), son Hadeer (age 15) and brother-in-law (name unknown) all drowned. (sources: 1, 2, 3)

Ali Al Husseini - wife Mona and three children Yasser (age 10), Asnan (age 7), Mahdi (age 6), brother Amir Al Husseini, sister-in-law Kareema Al Juborie, nephews Ahmad (age 11) and Nasser (age 9) all drowned. (source)

Faris Al Noori - wife Karima Al Noori and son Mohammad Hossein Al Noori and daughter Aliaa Al Noori all drowned. (source)

Ahmed Al Zalimi - wife Sondos Ismail survived and three daughters, Eman (age 9), Fatima (age 7) and Zahra (age 6) drowned. (sources: 1,2,3,4,,5,6, 7)

Mohammed Al Mousawi - wife Khadigeh Ismail drowned. (sources: 1, 2)

Abbas Akram - wife Amal Basry and son Rami Abbas Akram both survived. (sources: 1, 2)

Ali Shohani - father Faris Fadhil Kadhem Shohani survived, sister Leyla (age 7) and mother Zahra drowned. NB: Ali had other family members in Australia at the time of the sinking - his grandmother, uncle & aunt. (sources: 1, 2, 3, 4)

Alaa Alrimahi - niece Zaynab survived and brother Ahsan and sister-in-law Souad and nieces Fatima (age 14) and Roukaya (age 7) and nephews Mahmoud (age 6 ) and Mustafa (age 4 ) all drowned. (source)

Anfal & Naba Al Zubaydi - mother Najah and aunt Zena survived, aunt Najla, uncle Haydar and brother Karrar (age 18 months) all drowned. NB: Anfal & Naba were living in Australia with their grandparents at the time of the sinking. (sources: 1, 2)

Saleem Abood Jaber - wife Seham Lafta Zebari and three children, Evon, Evan and Ann, and brothers-in-law Ra’ad Lafta and Bashar Lafta all departed the boat a day before it sunk. (sources: 1, 2)

[This list is not definitive. Articles by John Elder & Farah Farouque suggest there were people living in Cobram in 2001 who had family travelling on SIEVX. I have also been told by one of the 23 Mandaeans who departed SIEVX the day before it sunk, that 19 had family connections in Australia.]
